Learner of the Month May 2026

Meet our Learner of the Month for May 2026, Ethan Ireland. Through his Level 3 International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship at Quality Freight Services, Ethan is gaining hands-on industry experience, building resilience, and developing key skills in customer engagement and shipment coordination while working towards a future career.

Our Learner of the Month for May 2026 is Ethan Ireland, who works at Quality Freight Services and is currently completing the Level 3 International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship.

Why Ethan chose the Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship

Ethan viewed the apprenticeship as an opportunity to gain industry knowledge and real-world experience, rather than just classroom learning.

He believes that this is a great pathway for him to achieve his career goals.

As someone who is interested in finance and accountancy and has been exploring account management careers, this apprenticeship immediately caught my interest, as it involves managing shipments for companies and can potentially lead to an Account Manager role. – Ethan

Developing resilience through the apprenticeship

One of the best moments of the Level 3 International Freight Forwarding Apprenticeship has been the opportunity to navigate a wide range of experiences, from meeting new people to working directly with customers.

Landing that first customer was a joy for me. Although a lot of things went wrong along the way, I found it was all part of the learning curve.

Throughout this experience, he discovered his new strengths.

I've been told I’m very good on the phone, as it only took me 20 calls to land my first customer. I don't even know how I did it.

Looking ahead

Looking ahead, as someone who has always wanted to live aboard, he plans to develop his career path to become a branch manager abroad and apply his experience to improve his future performance in increasing sales and gaining new customers.

When asked what advice he would give to anyone considering an apprenticeship, Ethan’s message is simple:

If the apprenticeship is there, go for it because you don’t have to go into debt. You’re learning on the job, gaining real experience, and getting all of that while getting paid to learn and develop yourself in your career.
