Learner of the Month June 2026

Meet our Learner of the Month for June 2026. Through his Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship at Alzheimer’s Society, Shaun has developed greater team management skills, enhanced his professional capabilities, and prepared for senior-level leadership.

Our Learner of the Month for June 2026 is Shaun Dignam, who works at Alzheimer's Society as a Supporter Stewardship Manager and is currently completing a Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship.

Why Shaun Chose a Coaching Apprenticeship

Having worked at Alzheimer's Society for around 10 years, Shaun was looking for an opportunity to further develop his skills. When the opportunity arose through the organisation's apprenticeship programme, he received his manager's support and decided it was the right time to take on a new challenge.

“I really enjoy my role. It's a really diverse and challenging role, but I wanted to put something in place to really hone my skills and do something extra.” - Shaun

Growing Through the Apprenticeship Journey

A highlight of his apprenticeship has been the opportunity to push his boundaries and learn from mistakes, while receiving support from his tutor and cohort.

“I pushed myself outside my comfort zone, learned fantastic things that help me in my day-to-day job, and improved my team's performance.”

Reflecting on the first four months of the apprenticeship, Shaun has noticed significant personal growth and increased confidence in his abilities.

Looking Ahead

Shaun views the Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship as a strong foundation for future career progression, as the experience has already enhanced his team management skills.

“I believe that the coaching apprenticeship will prepare me for a senior level, giving me a more rounded ability.”

When asked what advice he would give to anyone considering doing an apprenticeship, Shaun’s message is simple:

“I’d say be brave and enjoy it because you’re fully supported. The apprenticeship does put you out of your comfort zone, but I think you need to be comfortable with that.”
