Learner of the Month July 2026

Meet our Learner of the Month for July 2026. Through her Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship at Veolia, Elizabeth Morton has developed stronger leadership skills, enhanced her strategic planning capabilities, and gained the confidence and experience needed to progress into senior management roles.

Our Learner of the Month for July 2026 is Elizabeth Morton, who works at Veolia as a Training Services Manager and is currently completing the Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship.

Why Elizabeth Chose an Operations Manager Apprenticeship

Although Elizabeth already held a degree, she recognised that progressing into more senior leadership roles would require new skills and practical management experience.

The apprenticeship presented the perfect opportunity to build on her existing knowledge while preparing for the next stage of her career.

"For me, it's about gaining the experience and the knowledge in an apprenticeship to take me further in my career."

Growing Through the Apprenticeship Journey

One of the highlights of Elizabeth's Level 5 Operations Manager Apprenticeship has been developing a deeper understanding of leadership and learning about different leadership styles. She has also gained valuable strategic planning skills, helping her think beyond day-to-day operations and become a more confident leader.

"Learning leadership styles was massive for me... I'm now able to recognise what I'm exhibiting at that point in time. Strategic planning has also been really useful because it's something I've always felt I lacked."

Looking Ahead

Elizabeth's ambition is to progress into a Deputy Head role, where she can continue stretching herself, lead multiple teams, and broaden her leadership experience.

When asked what advice she would give to anyone considering an apprenticeship, Elizabeth's message is simple:

"I'd say do it. I was nervous about the work-life balance - I only work four days a week and have a young child at home. However, the learning is delivered in bite-sized chunks, making it really easy to fit into your day-to-day job."

Balancing work, family life, and study can seem daunting, but Elizabeth's journey has shown that it is entirely achievable.
